The Covid epidemic has accelerated the disruption of the tourist and digital landscapes, which was accelerated last year when social media behemoth Meta (previously Facebook) announced a rebranding towards the metaverse.
The global hoopla around the metaverse was enormous, but it is still too early to determine how this movement will play out as people become more aware of it.
