The Taoiseach visits a jail in Singapore where his uncle was detained by the Japanese Army during World War II

Micheál Martin, the Taoiseach, has been to the Singapore prison where his uncle was imprisoned for three years by the Japanese Army during World War II.

During his State visit to Changi, Mr Martin spoke movingly about his father's brother, Philip "Philly" Martin, after being shown around a museum on the premises of the former internment camp.
