France drops case against Facebook over 'cookies'

On Thursday, French privacy regulators announced they were closing their investigation into Facebook, finding that the US internet giant has altered its data collection practices to be in line with French law. In December of 2016, the French regulator CNIL fined Facebook 60 million euros (about $61 million) for failing to provide a simple way for its users to disable cookies, which are used to track online behaviour.
