EU's gas-saving efforts encounter opposition

Russia's threat to gas supply has forced Europe to make a difficult decision: either start saving for gas this summer, or risk having a colder and less prosperous winter.

In response, the EU developed a "war economy" plan that calls on nations to share economic losses. To lessen the negative effects of a disorganised cutoff, it is intended to begin preemptively and cooperatively reducing gas use across nations.
