EU promises to boost Norwegian gas and oil

Concerns about energy security are cited by the European Commission in its proposal for increased imports of gas from Norway.

In order to offset rising energy prices and assure supplies to counter the phase-out of Russian gas imports, the European Union has backed initiatives to locate and produce more oil and gas in Norway.
