China's Byte Dance admits to tracking journalists using TikTok data.

Employees of Chinese tech giant ByteDance improperly accessed data from social media platform TikTok to track journalists in an effort to identify the source of media leaks, the company admitted on Friday.

TikTok has gone to great lengths to persuade customers and governments in major markets such as the United States that users' data privacy is protected and that it does not pose a threat to national security.
