25% of the US economy's GDP comes from the chemical industry

According to a new study published by the US National Academies, the chemical sector in the US generated $5.2 trillion (£4.3 trillion), or over a quarter of the nation's GDP, and employed 4.1 million people in the nation in 2020. A committee led by chemist and president of George Washington University Mark Wrighton wrote the study, which had been in the works for two years.
