A security bug was originated in Facebook-owned prompt messenger WhatsApp that could let attackers acquire access to a device and steal data by using a nasty GIF file. The hazard stems from a double-free bug in WhatsApp. But WhatsApp alleged that the bug was fixed last month and it had no reason to believe that the bug affected anyone.
