The U.S. government is bending its muscles to Iraq, threatening that if the country pursues attempts to remove U.S. military forces in reaction to last week's U.S. missile strike on Iraqi soil that killed a top Iranian general, there could be severe financial repercussions.

With Iraqi lawmakers opening up to remove some 5,300 U.S. troops, the U.S. State Department reportedly threatened to cut ties to a crucial Iraqi account kept ....
