Security troops blocked off exits to the Conakry stadium before opening fire, leading to the murder of many protesters and the rape of many women and girls who had come to the stadium to demonstrate against the country's military dictatorship on September 28. Some demonstrators were killed by gunfire, others were slashed to death with knives, while still others were crushed to death.
