The lower chamber adopts legislation prohibiting harmful donation soliciting

Following the scandal over the Unification Church's fundraising activities, Japan's lower house enacted a measure on Thursday prohibiting groups from unfairly soliciting donations.

After debates begin in the afternoon in the Chamber of Councillors, or upper house, the law is expected to be passed in favor of the government bloc and some opposition parties on Saturday, the final day of the special parliamentary session.
