Coal production increased by 16.39 percent, reaching 607.97 MT from April to December of the current fiscal year. In the preceding fiscal year, India produced 522.34 MT of coal. According to a statement released by the coal ministry, in the period between April and December, total coal production by state-owned Coal India, which accounts for more than 80% of domestic output of the fossil fuel, reached 479.05 MT, an increase of 15.82%.
