BrainCo- a pioneering technology company for brain machine interface (BMI) and artificial intelligence (AI) has announced to expand its operations in India. Founded by a team of engineers and scientist from MIT and Harvard in 2015, BrainCo is a leading brand for BMI and Artificial Intelligence Technology Company.
The news has come at a time when the company is creating opportunities for state-of-the-art tech solutions within the education sector through its launch of AI-powered prosthetic hand. Reports allege the company is particularly drawing efforts for expansion outside China and in the Asia Pacific region.
BrainCo USA President Max Newlon said India could provide a potential market for its products and the company would seek to explore its presence into markets with such vast potential.
"We have expanded in China in a big way and would not shy at looking at investments in India. However, fist the company would like to strengthen its foothold in the existing market and establish its prosthetic offerings in US before looking at other markets," Newlon said while speaking to IANS.
At CES, BrainCo showcased a prosthetic arm which works with an amputee’s brain waves and muscle signals in order to intuit the desired movement. According to sources, the product is undergoing the process of FDA approvals, is however available in China.
As per experts, with the help of a software platform, users train the prosthetic through electrical signals, thus helping it to perform unlimited number of gestures, such as moving individual fingers, or can even help in playing a piano or trying hand at calligraphy.
Furthermore, the prosthetic costs about $ 10,000 to $ 15,000 unlike $ 60,000. While talking about the pricing, Newlon added, "The pricing could be attractive even for users in India."
In addition to the prosthetic, BrainCo also makes wearable headband which helps to detect and quantify students’ attention levels in a classroom. Working in collaboration with Focus EDU, it is the first classroom portal for teachers to access the effectiveness of their teaching practices in real time and also to make adjustments accordingly.
Company sources alleged the wearable provides users to enhance their gaming skills as good as that of top athletes of the world. The gadget also maps the brain wave of athletes, thus allowing them the opportunity to work on their brainwaves to attain desired success in sports.
