Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) – such diseases that do not have the ability to be transferred from one individual to another – are the leading cause of death worldwide. However, not much data is available about the effect of NCDs on the smaller, underrepresented populations, especially indigenous residents who are mostly not even taken into consideration in national health surveys.
