Medicaid lowers opioid overdose but boosts methadone deaths

Drug overdose has remained a leading cause of death in United States.  Ironically, medical treatment and facilities are costly too, making it impossible for most to seek proper medical care. To counter this, Medicaid was launched. However a new study has revealed that though the Medicaid program has helped lower deaths by opioid overdose of heroin and fentanyl, death due to methadone has increased.
