Maine senators consider establishing a relief fund for farmers contaminated by "forever chemicals" on their land

Maine senators are proposing a big bill to assist farmers who are dealing with PFAS, or harmful, so-called "forever chemicals," pollution of their property.

Perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) were found in sludge from processed industrial and human waste that was distributed as fertiliser on fields decades ago.

The state aided the process, which is why farmers and proponents of the bill (LD 2013)....
