A new research reveals that the low dose chest CT scans done for lung cancer screening can measure a common marker of heart disease. It is enabled by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and serves as an accurate and automated tool for measurement.
The common marker of heart disease under subject is coronary artery calcium that is a measure of plaque in arteries. It is visible on CT scans that are supposed to diagnose lung cancer.
