Leiji Matsumoto, the author of the iconic anime "Space Battleship Yamato" and other works in a fantastical style with antiwar themes, has died at the age of 85.
In the 1970s, his manga works "Galaxy Express 999" and "Space Pirate Captain Herlock" were adapted into television anime series and became enormous successes both in and outside of Japan.
Matsumoto, whose actual name was Akira Matsumoto....
