South Koreans have been eating boshintang, or dog meat stew, for a long time to beat the heat during "chobok," the start of the hottest days of summer according to the lunar calendar. This year, "chobok" is on July 11.

But Koreans are still split on the question. Some dog owners think of their dogs as pets, but others say that eating dogs is a unique part of the country's cooking culture and that everyone has ....
