The National Book Awards nonfiction longlist includes 10 works, including a new biography of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., a memoir on family by the award-winning novelist Viet Thanh Nguyen, and an examination of the crack epidemic of the 1980s and 1990s.

The National Book Foundation, which presents the awards, also announced the longlist for poetry on Thursday, a day after announcing ten nominees in each of the categories for you....
