Indian farming is in an unseen emergency

In 2019, three weeks once the Kharif gather season began, reports emerged that farmers are selling their produce at a price way below the minimum support price (MSP) declared by the government. Apart from some crops like paddy and maize, market prices for several of the fourteen Kharif crops, similarly as moong, urad, tur, nigerseeds, bajra, jowar, ragi, cotton, soybean, and flower, born 8-37 percent below MSP.
