A five-story building in Shanghai went "walking" through a city street using a new technology developed to help move large structures as part of efforts to preserve the city's historic structures.

What is unique about the project is that the building had nearly 200 supports under it. When the building was moving, the supports moved like a man who is walking so as to make the relocation possible.

Generally, buildings are moved with more mature methods like slide rail or flatbed relocation, neither of which is fit for this particular building. In the end, this style of relocation was formulated after multiple rounds of discussion.
