The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Olympic sports competition is underway in Kuwait, with female athletes competing for the first time.
The regional competition, which began in 2011, is held every four years and allows athletes from member countries Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates to compete in an Olympics-style competition in the area.
