Emanuel Ungaro, a French fashion designer, dies at 86

The French artist Emanuel Ungaro, who described himself as a sensual freak, died in Paris on his 86th birthday.

Ungaro was an old-school tyrant who once announced it memorably: “One should not wear a dress; one should live in it.”

Following two years in poor health, his family said that he retired in 2004 and died on Saturday.
