With regard to the article of Jan. 11 "Ban may have backfired," the drug addiction rate is a crucial fact that is obviously often ignored when reporting on the homeless.

Typical figures are published on social services, shelters and mental illness, but drug addiction is the skeleton all too often left in the closet. As a surgeon at PeaceHealth, Riverbend, covering facial trauma, I can attest to the 100 per cent use of drugs....
