Large ocean-going vessels are carrying new cars from Japanese factories to a global market at the busy port of Yokohama near Tokyo. Yet one commodity that the Japanese have always had to import is power, and how much fuel the country needs is evident from port traffic. From all over the world, including Pennsylvania, tankers full of coal, liquefied petroleum gas and liquefied natural gas, or LNG, sail into the harbour.
