Japanese people are fond of their alcohol. The traditional alcohol is known as Sake. Its consumption was overthrown by beer at the beginning of the 20th century. Beer accounts for 75% of today’s consumption. The beer consumption peaked in 1999 when it reached 21 gallons per year. However, there has been a steady decline in the numbers since.
