1.9 billion people depend on natural water towers

A new study has attempted to study the assessment and ranking of Earth’s water towers.

Scientists identified 78 mountainous regions that generate and store water and support the major population living downstream in a controlled way.

The most important storage unit on the planet Earth was found to be Asia's Indus basin (fed by the Himalayan, Hindu-Kush, Karakoram and Ladakh ranges)
