The first strike in sixty years destroys a renowned Japanese department store.

One of Japan's most renowned department stores shuttered its doors on Thursday in the sector's first strike in six decades, prompted by fears that its proposed new U.S. owner will eliminate employment.

The Seibu in Tokyo's Ikebukuro district attracts approximately 70 million visitors annually to its 14 storeys, where its courteous employees sell everything from sushi to Armani seven days per week.
