OIL SPILL : ENVIRONMENTAL EMERGENCY DECLARED IN MAURITIUS

Can these man man-made disasters be prevented? & How? Mauritius has declared an environmental emergency over oil spill from grounded ship into the Indian Ocean.

Reportedly, the ship was carrying nearly 4,000 tonnes of fuel. This has created an ecological disaster, endangering corals, fish and other marine life around the Indian Ocean island.

"To protect the environment, we will do our utmost to recover the leaked oil, pump out the oil that remains in the ship and remove the ship safely while coordinating with Mauritius and relevant Japanese agencies.”- shipowners Nagashiki Shipping
