As a source of diplomatic concern with certain Asian countries, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida sent a traditional offering to the war-linked Yasukuni shrine in Tokyo on Monday.
Though he sent the masakaki ceremonial tree for the Shinto shrine's autumn festival, Kishida is not expected to attend the event, according to those close to him.
