Germany has nearly $1.9 billion remaining in the COVID vaccine program for future health initiatives.

Germany was a significant contributor to the COVAX vaccine initiative, which was administered by Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, the World Health Organization, and the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI). As reported by a news agency on Monday, donors and the Gavi board have been deliberating what to do with the remaining funds as the emergency phase of the pandemic concludes and demand for vaccines decreases.
