The German Fraunhofer Society has announced that the Fraunhofer Institute for Energy Infrastructure and Geothermal Energy (IEG) will be created to further promote the energy transition and complement the current Fraunhofer portfolio. Fraunhofer is the largest application-oriented research organization in Europe, with 72 institutes spread across Germany, each focusing on various fields of applied science.
