A recent study indicates that exposure to man-made chemicals found in ordinary household items and in soil, air, and water may raise the risk of hypertension in women of middle age. The study revealed that middle-aged women with higher blood levels of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) were 71% more likely to develop hypertension than their counterparts with lower blood levels of these compounds.
